In line with national directives to enhance community awareness, the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) participated in a children’s workshop to raise awareness of its regulatory and supervisory role.
As part of the Child’s Day and International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrations organized by the Misr Public Library in Ismailia Governorate, and under the awareness program launched by ENRRA last October, Dr. Mahitab El-Manawy, Head of the Public Relations and International Cooperation Department, conducted an awareness workshop for children aged 6 to 12 from several schools across the governorate.
Dr. El-Manawy provided the children with a simplified explanation of ENRRA’s regulatory and supervisory role in the field of nuclear and radiological safety and security. During the workshop, the children were introduced to the story “I Build and He Oversees”, which ENRRA developed as part of its educational outreach program aimed at children of different age groups.
Mr. Ramy Afifi, Senior Strategic Communications and International Cooperation Specialist at ENRRA, also engaged with students from the Media Department at the local Education Directorate, delivering an introductory explanation of ENRRA’s mission and its importance in ensuring the safety of nuclear and radiological activities in Egypt.
Following the workshop, a meeting was held between Dr. El-Manawy and Ms. Ghada El-Badri, Director General of Executive Affairs and Student Activities at the Ismailia Education Directorate, with the participation of Ms. Amal Ragab, Director of Misr Public Library in Ismailia, Ms. Kholoud Mohamed, the Library’s General Coordinator, and Mr. Ramy Afifi. The meeting explored future cooperation opportunities between ENRRA and the Directorate.
At the conclusion of the day’s events, the ENRRA team met with Dr. Dina Abu Al-Maati, Vice President of Suez Canal University for Community Service and Environmental Development, to discuss avenues of cooperation in raising awareness of ENRRA’s regulatory role and promoting a culture of nuclear and radiological safety among university students. The meeting was also attended by representatives from Misr Public Library.
ENRRA continues its efforts to spread scientific awareness among children and youth, supporting the state’s vision to build an informed and responsible future generation.
