ENRRA Concludes International Workshop on “Best Practices for the Role of Regulatory Bodies in Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies”

H.E Dr. Hany Khedr, Chairman of ENRRA, concluded the workshop with a meeting alongside representatives from ASNR – Autorité de sûreté nucléaire et de radioprotection, and the European Commission-Union Delegation to Egypt as part of the project “Strengthening Regulatory Capacities for Nuclear Safety in Africa.”
The workshop, held 16–20 November 2025, brought together regulators from Egypt, Ghana, National Nuclear Regulator-South Africa, Agence Marocaine de Sûreté et de Sécurité Nucléaires et Radiologiques – AMSSNuR-Morocco, Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority ( KNRA) , and Nigeria, along with experts from France, Germany, and Spain.
The project aims to strengthen cooperation between African regulatory authorities and their European counterparts, enhancing nuclear safety capabilities across the continent. Discussions helped set the roadmap and collaboration areas for 2026–2028.
The event opened with remarks from Dr. Mahmoud Gad Shahata, Vice Chairman of ENRRA, in the presence of Mr. Lorenzo Harrington, First Secretary, EU Delegation to Egypt, and concluded with future cooperation planning between ENRRA and ASNR.
