At the Conclusion of the 2026 Cairo International Book Fair Utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) to Introduce the Role of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority
In implementation of the recommendations of H.E. Ambassador Reda El-Taify, Director of the Misr Public Libraries Fund, emphasizing the importance of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority’s second participation at the Misr Public Libraries’ pavilion during the Fair, in response to the significant public engagement witnessed during the Authority’s first participation.
In this context, the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA), in cooperation with the Misr Public Libraries Fund, participated in the closing activities of the 2026 Cairo International Book Fair by delivering innovative awareness activities aimed at introducing the Authority’s role through the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.
The participation was attended by Dr. Mahitab El-Manawy, Head of the Public Relations and International Cooperation Department; Mr. Ramy Afifi, Senior Specialist for Strategic Communication and International Cooperation; Ms. Shaimaa El-Alfy, Manager of Misr Public Library – El Zaytoun Branch in Cairo; with the participation of storyteller Nermine Yousry and the “ALARA” doll, portrayed by volunteer Juwairiya Mahmoud, in cooperation with Misr Public Library – El Zaytoun Branch.
The activity focused on raising children’s awareness of ENRRA’s regulatory and oversight role through VR technology, by presenting an interactive virtual model of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, highlighting the Authority’s role in supervising the construction and operation phases of the plant, using a simplified approach tailored to different age groups.
This participation reflects ENRRA’s commitment to leveraging modern technologies as effective tools for public awareness, promoting scientific culture, and reinforcing concepts of the safe and responsible use of nuclear and radiological applications, particularly among younger generations.
