“ALARA” at the 57th Cairo International Book Fair

Within the framework of the fruitful cooperation with the Misr Public Library Fund, the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) participated through the Misr Public Library booth – El Zaytoun Branch in Cairo and the mobile library, engaging directly with the public, particularly children and parents.

This participation included the distribution of the first children’s storybook entitled “He Builds, and I Regulate ”, as part of the children’s awareness program launched by the Authority. The initiative aims to raise awareness about nuclear and radiological technological applications and to introduce the regulatory and supervisory role of the Authority in a simplified manner suitable for different age groups.

The event witnessed strong interaction from children with the doll “ALARA”, with the participation of storyteller Nermine Yousry, as a large number of children gathered to listen to the story. The storytelling session contributed to simplifying concepts related to nuclear and radiological technologies in an engaging and interactive way. Parents also expressed their appreciation for the story’s content and presentation style, noting that the event helped them better understand the role and responsibilities of the Authority. They further called on the Authority’s communication team and the officials of Misr Public Libraries to repeat the activity during the course of the Book Fair, highlighting its special importance as a distinctive and innovative scientific and cultural content.

The event was attended by Dr. Mahitab El-Manawy, Head of the Public Relations and International Cooperation Department at the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority; Mr. Ramy Afifi, Senior Specialist for Strategic Communication and International Cooperation; Dr. Ahmed Aman, General Coordinator of Misr Public Libraries nationwide; Ms. Shaimaa El-Alfy, Director of Misr Public Library – El Zaytoun Branch; in addition to storyteller Nermine Yousry.
