ENRRA Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi Counterpart to Strengthen Cooperation in Nuclear and Radiological Safety
The Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance cooperation in the fields of nuclear and radiological regulation.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Hany Khedr, Chairman of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, and Dr. Khalid Al-Issa, CEO of the Saudi Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the International Conference on Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Preparedness and Response, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh from 1–4 December 2025.
The MoU aims to strengthen joint cooperation in nuclear safety and radiation protection, and to advance frameworks for nuclear and radiological security and safety through the exchange of technical and scientific expertise between both authorities.
The MOU also includes cooperation in several specialized areas, including:
- Laboratory measurements, and analysis
- Safety of radioactive sources transport
- Preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies
This MoU comes within the broader context of deepening the strong and strategic relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across various domains. It also reflects the advanced capabilities and expertise possessed by both regulatory bodies, which contribute to enhancing nuclear and radiological safety and security.
