From the premises of the Ismailia Governorate, the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA), in cooperation with Misr Public Library in Ismalilia Governorate launched the first Braille-printed version of the children’s story “I Build, and He Regulates” for blind children, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Governorate.
Eng. Ahmed Al-Iskandarani, Secretary General of the Governorate, attended the honoring ceremony of Ms. Amal Ragab, Manager of Misr Public Library in Ismailia Governorate, and Mr. Ashry Mohamed Abdallah, who translated the story content into Braille.
In a historic milestone—the first of its kind since the beginning of Egypt’s nuclear program in 1955—Dr. Mahitab El-Manawy, Head of Public Relations and International Cooperation at ENRRA, received today the first awareness story for visually impaired children printed in Braille. This comes as part of the awareness program launched by the Authority last October.
This achievement reflects the ongoing and fruitful cooperation between the Misr Public Library Network and ENRRA. Misr Public Library in Ismailia Governorate prepared the first Braille version of the story “I Build, and He Monitors”, through the dedicated efforts of Mr. Ashry Mohamed Saadallah from the Library’s Braille Department.
Eng. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Iskandarani, Secretary General of the Governorate, welcomed Dr. Mahitab El-Manawy, Head of Public Relations and International Cooperation; Mr. Ramy Afifi, Senior Strategic Communications and International Cooperation Specialist and Liaison Officer with Misr Public Libraries Network; and Ms. Amal Ragab, Manager of Misr Public Library in Ismailia Governorate, to discuss future cooperation opportunities. The meeting concluded with an agreement to implement an intensive awareness plan targeting children at various age groups, particularly preparatory and secondary school students.
During the visit, ENRRA honored Ms. Amal Ragab in appreciation of her continuous support of the Authority’s awareness activities in the governorate. Mr. Ashry Mohamed was also honored for his work in converting the story into Braille.
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General emphasized the importance of ENRRA’s awareness role in preparing future generations for Egypt’s nuclear program. Dr. Mahitab El-Manawy affirmed that the Authority’s commitment to promoting a culture of nuclear and radiological safety and security stems from its responsibility to empower an informed generation capable of ensuring the sustainability of Egypt’s nuclear program in the years to come.
